For many, there comes a time when we find ourselves in a dark and seemingly inescapable place in our lives. The road back, or the new road out, can be challenging to find and traverse. However, I firmly believe we can travel this path, and this journey is often the focus of the work I do with my clients. While there are serious and concerning issues we may explore in therapy, it can also be a place for humour and joy. The things we enjoy and feel drawn to often say a lot about us. I am a bit of a geek, as well as a certified therapeutic game master, and topics like spaceships, music, pop culture, cute animals, rare hobbies and specialised interests are more than welcome in our conversations. I bring to sessions my study of multiple forms of therapy and the underlying human psychology that informs them. I focus on evidence based practices supported by solid research. These include solution focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), as well as emotional regulation and interpersonal development skills. I am also trained in career counselling, grief work, recovery and other areas of specialisation. I believe these modern therapies are only part of the right approach for many people. Often, an examination of our trauma and past can lead us to discover the importance of older paths such as mindfulness, creativity, healing and the journey to find the self. Each individual will need a unique combination of the new and the old, along with different tools, approaches and practices. Working collaboratively with my clients, I use my education and skillset to help shape a personalised therapy programme. Currently, I work exclusively online. I am licensed as an LMHC in Washington State and able to see clients who reside anywhere within the state.
