I have an existentialist approach to counselling. This allows for a view of the client in context of life-stage transitions rather than pathologies. I work with your values, rather than those of external forces. I believe life is a journey that can take you past the experiences of mystery, awe, hope, and wonder. I like to think I am speaking to the inner being of my client, not simply the recent anxieties that have surfaced. I believe no ideology belongs in the therapeutic relationship. I have experience with crisis counselling. My strengths are being able to motivate my clients, building honesty, understanding evolving identity, and helping people reorientate their values for better outcomes. My intellectual areas of inquiry have been around evolving masculinity in the contemporary age, the experiences of detransitioners, the ways people adapt after 'near death' experiences, ideologies and how they usurp human potential, and existential guilt. I am 50 years old which permits a claim to some wisdom besides knowledge in psychology.
