Help meet the urgent need for thoughtful, whole-person care.
Why We Need You
At Beyond Trans, we connect individuals and families facing gender-related distress with therapists who offer thoughtful, compassionate, whole-person care.
For too long, gender healthcare has been dominated by the affirmation model, prioritising medical transition as the first response. While some benefit, many others — including those questioning, detransitioning, or simply seeking space to explore — are left without adequate support.
We believe people deserve:
- A safe place to reflect on their thoughts and feelings
- Space to explore their identity without pressure
- Access to therapeutic care that is ethical, evidence-informed, and patient-centred
Therapists committed to ethical, whole-person care.
Who We’re Looking For
We are building a directory of therapists who:
- Provide exploratory, non-directive therapy
- Take a whole-person approach, integrating identity, trauma, neurodiversity, and mental health
- Are trauma-informed and neurodiversity-aware (including experience with autistic clients)
- Offer individual, family, or couples therapy
- Are aligned with the principles highlighted in the Cass Review (UK) and the US HHS Review
Evidence from the UK and US
Cass Review (UK)
The NHS-commissioned Cass Review called for:
Comprehensive mental health assessments
Cautious, evidence-based approaches
More attention to neurodevelopmental conditions like autism
US HHS Gender Dysphoria Review
The 2025 US report echoed these concerns:
Highlighting the weak evidence base for medical interventions
Calling for safeguards around consent, long-term outcomes, and ethical care
Emphasising the value of psychotherapy as a first-line approach
Both reports underline the urgent need for psychotherapy as an ethical, non-invasive, and evidence-informed alternative to rushed medicalisation.
